Photo and media consent
Your face and your story belong to you. We use them only when you say yes, and you can change your mind.
Photos, videos and stories help us show what SIA participants achieve, and help funders understand our work. They also show people, often young people and women, in their own communities. So we follow these rules.
Want a photo taken down?
Tell us which page or post, and we remove it. You do not have to give a reason.
Part 1
Our rules
We ask first, in writing
Before we publish a photo, video or story in which you can be recognised, we ask for your written consent and explain where it will appear.
A parent or guardian for under-18s
For anyone under 18, a parent or guardian gives consent. We also ask the young person, and respect a no.
Saying no is fine
Saying no never affects your place in a programme, a grant or any other support.
We record consent
For photos of people who can be recognised, we record their consent in our photo library. Photos marked “no consent” are never shown on this website.
Part 2
How we use photos and stories
- On this website, SIA’s social media, reports, proposals and presentations to funders and partners.
- With your first name, district and enterprise only if you agree; never your phone number or home address.
- Stories in your own words, shared with you before we publish them.
- No photos that could put you at risk, embarrass you, or show you in a way you would not choose.
Part 3
Changing your mind
You can withdraw your consent at any time. We remove the photo or story from this website and stop using it in new materials straight away. Printed materials already given out, and posts others shared, cannot always be recalled, but we will do what we reasonably can.
Part 4
At SIA events
Our events are sometimes photographed. We tell you at registration and at the door, and you can ask the photographer not to take your picture.
Journalists and partners who want to photograph or interview participants must ask SIA first and follow these rules. See the media kit.
